Active Zone Outdoor

Active Zone Outdoor is a Cyprus based non for profit, non-governmental organisation established in Larnaca in 2019, having as a mission to connect young people with opportunities to develop better mental health through sports and outdoor activities and be actively engaged in society achieving personal fulfillment.

Active Zone Outdoor as the Organiser, fully supports the mission of the festival, since among others, the organisation aims at promoting the sport of rock climbing and its benefits to young people facilitating the development of mental and physical health and their connection with the physical environment, achieving better environmental awareness, healthy lifestyle and well-being.

Striving towards the promotion and cultivation of inclusive communities, Active Zone Outdoor exploits rock climbing as an intervention tool for social inclusion as well as provides accessibility to young people with fewer opportunities, those coming from vulnerable backgrounds and people with disabilities.

Maria Andronicou

Maria Andronicou is a Rock Climbing Instructor with a passion for trad multi-pitch and crack climbing. She discovered climbing in Cyprus and has since explored iconic routes across Europe and the Middle East—from the Dolomites to Wadi Rum. She holds a BSc in Mathematics, an MSc in MIS & Innovation, and is an ICAEW Chartered Accountant.

Tasos Michael (left)

Tasos Michael is a Rock Climbing Instructor with a background in civil engineering and a deep love for the vertical world. Since 2015, he's been climbing across Cyprus and beyond—from the Dolomites to Wadi Rum—chasing bold lines and unforgettable landscapes. He's into bouldering, sport, multi-pitch, with a special passion for Trad multi-pitch.

George Andreou (right)

George Andreou is a Rock Climbing Instructor, Everest summiteer, and vice-president of Active Zone Outdoor. With over 20 years of global climbing and mountaineering experience—from the Andes to the Himalayas—he brings deep expertise and passion to the vertical world. He also runs a successful rope access company as managing director, combining technical precision with adventure.
